Norm Smith Medal
The Norm Smith Medal is awarded to the best player of the Grand Final match and is judged by a panel of experts. It is the most prestigious player award in AFL and is named after legendary Melbourne player and coach Norman Smith, who passed away in 1973. In 2010 the Grand Final resulted in a draw and had to be replayed at a later date to reach a result. St Kilda player Lenny Hayes won the Norm Smith medal in the drawn match and Collingwood player Scott Pendlebury won the medal in the replay.
2012 Brownlow Medal
Markets for the 2012 Brownlow Medal are live with Chris Judd the early $7.00 favourite to win his third Brownlow in 2012. The Brownlow Medal is awarded to the “best and fairest” player of the regular AFL season (not including finals matches). The 2011 Brownlow medalist was Dane Swan from Collingwood. AFL Football Betting / Types Of Bets
The most popular betting options on the AFL are the head-to-head markets for the individual games and which team will win the premiership. The earlier you bet on this the better value you are likely to get because as the seasons progresses the odds of the teams most likely to win will begin to shorten.
Other popular bets are games totals on the combined score of both teams, and margin betting on how many points a team will win by. Exotic bets include first scoring play, first player to kick a goal, first team to score, player to kick most goals for the match, player to kick most goals of the round, player to get most disposals and Man of the Match. You can also bet on who will win the Brownlow Medal and the Norm Smith Medal as well as which team will win the Grand Final.
